Please fill in the form below to RSVP for the Complete Streets Strategy Forum.
The event will take place on March 29, 2014 from 9:30 am - 2:30 pm. All of the attendees will be people who are actively engaged in issues related to walking, cycling, public transportation, public health and safety at their organizations or in their communities.
The event will be held in the Indigo Room at Hotel Indigo Ottawa Downtown, located at 123 Metcalfe Street.
Registration and coffee will commence at 9:30am and opening remarks will begin at 10:00am. At 10:30 we will begin a panel of 5 city councillors, who will detail their experience with the Complete Streets policy and the challenges associated with improving cycling infrastructure, walkability, and public transit in their neighbourhoods. This will be followed by a question and answer period. We are happy to announce that we have 5 councillors confirmed for the event including David Chernushenko, Keith Egli, Mathieu Fleury, Diane Holmes, and Marianne Wilkinson.
Lunch will be served at noon, and at 12:30 we will break into groups for a two hour strategy discussion. At this point the meeting will focus on how we can best work together to create a strategy that will turn this policy into action. This strategy will follow two paths; first, we want to determine how to best understand and improve the existing policy at city hall. Second, we will identify streets that are due for renewal in the coming years that could become positive examples of complete streets, along with alternative actions that people can take at a community level to promote safe streets and active transportation.
The meeting will finish at 2:30, and everyone is welcome to stay until 3:30 for coffee and mingling.
