Council on Aging /Age Friendly Ottawa: Pedestrian Safety Committee in partnership with Ecology Ottawa is holding Winter Pedestrian Audits.
Complete Streets are streets that work for people from 8 to 88; broad sidewalks, shade trees, places to sit, shelter while waiting for buses, signal lights and signage are all elements that should be considered when designing a complete street. Council on Aging /Age Friendly Ottawa: Pedestrian Safety Committee are completing audits in three neighbourhoods over three seasons to assess walking conditions.
This winter audit will take place in Beaverbrook, Kanata North and begins at the Beaverbrook Community Centre at 2 Beaverbrook Road.
There will be an open start time for participants anywhere between 1:30 - 3:30. Each participant will be given a route map and a survey (questionnaire). The audit will take approximately 30-45 minutes to complete and the survey sheets should be returned to the start point.
Note takers will be available to walk with those with mobility aids. All are welcome!
